GARY SNYDER FINE ART MT

The continuation of a career forged in the New York art world and now rooted in Montana.

Gary opened his first New York gallery in 1991 and quickly became a respected authority in modern American art. Over nearly three decades, his galleries in SoHo, Midtown, and Chelsea explored American art of the 1920s through the 1960s, with particular emphasis on abstraction and historically-significant artists whose influence has continued to deepen over time.

Snyder has helped clients build collections, including the J. Donald Nichols collection of American abstract art of the 1930s and 1940s, the Dr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Zissu collection of Abstract Expressionism (which sold at Sotheby's), and other important collections ranging from early American modernism through Minimalism, Pop, and Hard Edge painting of the 1960s.

In 2018, Gary relocated to Bozeman, Montana, where his practice evolved into a focused role as an art consultant, private dealer, and long-term advocate for artists. His current work centers on representing and advancing the practice of Ben Miller, while continuing to advise collectors and estates.
